Chevrolet introduces the first mid-engine Corvette, Stingray 2020

CHEVROLET / Chevrolet

Chevrolet introduced the Stingray 2020, the first affordable mid-engine Corvette from Chevrolet.

The exterior styling of the Stingray 2020 has a bold and futuristic appearance with striking proportions imposed by the central engine, but it is still clearly a Corvette. It is graceful and fluid, with a sporty sculpted shape that provides a feeling of movement and strength in every corner of the car.

The Stingray 2020 is equipped with the new Chevrolet Next-Generation V8 LT2 6.2L petrol engine, the only naturally aspirated V8 engine. This engine generates the largest horsepower and torque for any Corvette with 495 hp (369 kW) and 470 lb-ft of torque (637 Nm), when combined with a performance boost exhaust.

The next-generation LT2 engines are coupled with Chevrolet's first double-clutch transmission, allowing speed shifting very quickly. This transmission is uniquely designed in cooperation with TREMEC to provide the best direct contact feeling offered by the manual transmission, and the superior comfort of the automatic transmission system. Dual clutch separation feature allows the driver to separate the clutch by holding the shift pads for more manual control.

The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will enter production at the GM assembly facility in Bowling Green in late 2019. Additional information about pricing, packing, etc. will be shared later.
